SUMMARY:phd seminar - Martin Dhaussy*\, Xavier Chatron-Colliet**

DESCRIPTION:*The rise of electric vehicles (EVs) has led to a rapid deploym
ent of public charging infrastructures. In France\, this deployment involve
 s multiple stakeholders\, including local governments (communes\, EPCIs)\,
grid operators\, mobility operators\, and infrastructure providers. In the
case of public charging stations\, local authorities typically determine pl
acement locations. While one might assume that such decisions are driven by
a mix of political and economic incentives\, the actual allocation efficie
ncy remains an open question. This preliminary research investigates the ex
tent of local economic misallocation in the placement of public EV charging
stations. I leverage a novel dataset of charging sessions\, enriched with
detailed information on nearby amenities for each station. I estimate the i
nfluence of location characteristics on station usage to construct counterf
actuals. They allow for a quantification of potential local improvements in
utilization\, shedding light on the degree of inefficiency in current depl
oyment strategies.**Social justice and well-being have long been studied in
economics\, sometimes jointly\, sometimes separately. Recent developments
have renewed the way we conceptualize these two notions. On the one hand\,
the rise of happiness economics and subjective well-being approaches has le
d to new definitions and empirical measures of well-being\, both at the ind
ividual and societal levels. On the other hand\, the study of social justic
e—often framed within social choice theory—has undergone an "empirical
turn" through behavioral economics\, where experimental methods have been u
sed to explore the role of morality and social preferences in shaping human
behavior\, beyond the assumption of pure self-interest. Despite rich findi
ngs in both fields\, the two strands of literature rarely intersect. This p
resentation proposes to build on the experimental literature on social just
ice to investigate how perceptions of justice correlate with individual wel
l-being\, and how people form judgments and make decisions regarding what t
hey consider to be "just" in social dilemmas.\\n\\nContact: Philippine Escu
