DESCRIPTION:I will present a work in progress on how individuals respond to
  others in social networks. A recent experimental literature documents two 
 important features of social interaction: (i) an individual's response to a
  social contact depends on how responsive that contact is to the individual
 \, and (ii) this response is also shaped by the responsiveness of third par
 ties. These findings suggest that social responsiveness is not simply an in
 dividual characteristic: it may be jointly determined through social intera
 ction and shaped by the network in which interaction takes place. We develo
 p a model of endogenous social responsiveness in networks and study its imp
