Aix-Marseille School of Economics (AMSE) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Plan Bleu, the Regional Activity Center for the Mediterranean Action Plan, from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
This partnership aims to build strong bridges between academic research and Plan Bleu’s operational priorities, as well as to promote the skills development of the next generation of economists and sustainable development practitioners.
A collaboration focused on 5 scientific priorities
The initiatives undertaken will be organized around five major themes:
- Economic Leverage for the Green Transition (Sustainable Finance, Green Taxation, and Economic Incentives).
- Mediterranean Taxonomy for Sustainable Activities.
- Sustainable Territories, Ecological Innovation, and the promotion of Local Resources.
- Trade, Regional Integration, and the Mediterranean’s Ecological Transition.
- Inclusive development (gender, youth, and the green transition).
3 concrete levels of engagement
The partnership will be implemented in the short, medium, and long term through three pillars:
- Research - PhD funding (including CIFRE), scientific meetings, regular updates on european/mediterranean calls for proposals, writing of joint proposals. In addition, Plan Bleu will join a Mediterranean network of development economists currently being established by AMSE.
- Training - Educational Activities and interconnected events, including hosting interns, presentations to AMSE students, and an annual workshop on sustainability policies.
- Institutional - In the longer term, the partners plan to establish a Chair on Sustainable Economics in the Mediterranean, supported by a program of research, training, and policy dialogue.
We are delighted with this shared momentum and the promising prospects it opens up for the future.
